Dollar Falls Against Peers Amid Central Bank Meetings
The US dollar took a hit on Monday, July 27th, as it declined against several major currencies in Asian trading. The greenback fell by 0.2 percent to 163.585 yen, marking its largest decline since July 10th.
The euro and British pound also rose, with the euro up 0.3 percent at $1.1403 and the British pound increasing by 0.2 percent to $1.3352. The New Zealand dollar and Australian dollar both gained 0.1 percent, reaching $0.5791 and $0.6996 respectively.
The US dollar index, which measures the strength of the greenback against a basket of six currencies, remained flat at 101.21. This comes as central banks prepare to hold meetings this week, including the Federal Reserve.
Cryptocurrencies, however, bucked the trend and saw gains, with Bitcoin rising by 1 percent to $65,286.74 and Ether climbing 1.7 percent to $1,945.22.
