Dollar Falls Amid Jobs Report Surprise and Oil Price Volatility
The US dollar fell on Friday and was on track for its first two-week losing streak since May, as a negative surprise in the July jobs report weighed on the greenback.
The U.S. dollar index shed 0.4% to 99.54 at 15:28 ET (19:28 GMT), marking its first monthly loss since February.
Despite the negative report, the overall labor market remains solid, but inflationary risks are higher amid ongoing volatility in oil prices due to the Middle East conflict.
