Dollar Holds Firm Amid Fed Rate Hike Speculations
The US dollar has maintained its strength despite market speculations about an impending Federal Reserve interest-rate hike. The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies, dipped by 0.2% to 101.35 on Tuesday.
This comes after the dollar reached a one-month high in late June at 101.80. According to Karl Schamotta, chief market strategist at Corpay, traders are preserving liquidity and adding to dollar positions ahead of the Fed's decision.
Schamotta suggested that any action from the Fed would further bolster the dollar, whether it be a hike or a hawkish hold, although speculative positioning remains high.
