Dollar Holds Firm as Energy Prices Rise Amid Middle East Tensions
The US dollar held steady at its highest levels of the past week on Friday, while the yen slipped for a second day amid renewed fears of energy supply disruptions in the Middle East.
Energy prices continued to rise, with Brent crude futures increasing by 1.2% to $108.96 a barrel as trading resumed in Asia.
Data released earlier this week showed US producer prices rose 0.4% in August, meeting market expectations as energy prices rebounded during the month.
Markets are awaiting the release of US CPI data later on Friday, which is one of the last major economic data points before the Federal Reserve meets next week.
