Dollar Holds Firm at 683 Cuban Pesos as Euro Declines in Cuba's Informal Market

In Cuba's informal market, the US dollar held steady at 683 Cuban pesos (CUP) as of September 6, 2026. This stability marks a peak in the past 30 days for the dollar, which has been trading between 663 and 683 CUP throughout this period.

The euro, on the other hand, experienced a slight decline to 775 CUP, down from 777 CUP the previous day. Despite this minor drop, the euro remains the most expensive currency in Cuba's parallel market, surpassing the dollar by 92 pesos.

The MLC, a digital currency used primarily in state-run stores, saw a significant drop of 26 pesos or 5.9% to an indicative average of 415 CUP. The MLC has limited circulation compared to cash currencies due to its lack of physical presence.
