Dollar Holds Firm Near One-Week High Amid Energy Supply Fears

The US dollar index held steady at 99.084 on Friday as Brent crude futures hovered above $100 per barrel, driving bond yields higher and expectations of another Federal Reserve rate hike.

The dollar's recent strength was fueled by renewed fears of energy supply disruptions in the Middle East, with oil prices rebounding during August due to increased energy costs, according to US producer price data.

This has also supported demand for the safe-haven dollar, while higher energy prices have heightened expectations that the Federal Reserve could raise interest rates at its meeting next week.
