The US dollar held steady on Friday near its one-week high against major peers in early Asian trade.

The dollar index, which measures the currency's value against six major peers, remained unchanged at 99.13.

The euro and sterling were subdued near their respective one-week lows against the greenback, trading at $1.1652 and $1.3597.

The yen was largely unaffected by the dollar's stability, but it is still on track for a 1.3 percent monthly gain.

In contrast, the Australian dollar rose nearly 0.1 percent to hit a three-month high of $0.72 as investors bet on interest rate hikes.
