Dollar Index Rebounds on ECB Rate Decision and US Economic Data
The US Dollar Index (DXY) has demonstrated resilience in the face of the European Central Bank's decision to maintain its key benchmark rates, including the deposit facility rate at 2.25%, main refinancing rate at 2.40%, and marginal lending facility rate at 2.65%.
Following the ECB's rate decision, Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, stated that 'decisions next time will be meeting by meeting and data dependent.' She added that persistent energy price fluctuations may take time to reach the 2 percent inflation target sustainably, leaving room for potential rate adjustments.
The US dollar gained strength alongside higher Treasury bond yields ahead of key S&P Global flash PMI releases. Analysts project US manufacturing PMI at 54.5, services at 51.5, and the composite index staying firmly above the 50 expansion threshold. Positive economic indicators are expected to support expectations that the Federal Reserve will hold interest rates constant at its upcoming meeting.
