Dollar Rally Falters Without Volume Confirmation
The recent US dollar index advance lacks volume confirmation, which is crucial for determining whether a rally will be lasting or just a corrective bounce. According to StoneX Media's Market Analyst Matt Simpson, who has spent 15 years analyzing markets, a genuine trend attracts participation as it develops.
On the weekly chart, the dollar index price structure appears as a clean uptrend, but beneath this reading lies thinning volume. The gap between the price structure and volume is where the usable information resides, according to Simpson.
The US dollar-Chinese yuan has become the most-traded currency pair in Hong Kong, surpassing the Hong Kong dollar-US dollar for the first time in April, with average daily foreign exchange turnover rising to $908.2 billion in April.
