Dollar Rebounds Slightly Amid Iran Sanctions Uncertainty
The US dollar rebounded slightly on Tuesday after the U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced wider sanctions targeting Iran, but investors remained concerned about U.S. fiscal risks.
The greenback had gained 0.2% overnight, and was last up 0.1% at 98.95 by 04:50 GMT.
Bessent said countries and businesses continuing to trade with Iran risked being shut out of the dollar-based financial system.
The Japanese yen’s pair rose 0.2% to 159.35 yen, while the Chinese yuan's onshore pair and the Singapore dollar's traded flat.
