The US dollar recovered some of its losses on Thursday as investors awaited signals from the Federal Reserve's policy path at the Jackson Hole symposium.

Data showed inflation remained stickier than economists had anticipated, with July's numbers exceeding expectations. This contributed to expectations that interest rates could remain restrictive until the end of this year.

The euro slipped 0.1% versus the dollar to $1.1639, while the sterling dipped 0.1% to $1.3577 as investors pared bets for an interest rate hike by the Bank of England this year.

Elias Haddad, global head of markets strategy at Brown Brothers Harriman, attributed the dollar's support to the US economy outpacing other major economies.
