Dollar Rises as Hawkish Sentiment Takes Hold

The US Dollar has seen a surge in value following Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole, where he hinted at a more hawkish monetary policy stance. This shift in sentiment led to a repricing of the probability of a September interest rate hike, with odds now greater than 50/50. The Dollar rose as a result.

This week, key economic data releases will test whether this hawkish repricing can be sustained. On Tuesday, the JOLTS report is expected to show modest job openings, while the ISM Manufacturing and Services surveys are forecasted to remain in expansionary territory.

However, the main event is Friday's nonfarm payrolls (NFP) report, which is seen as a crucial indicator of labor market health. A strong print would validate Warsh's message that the Fed should focus on inflation control, while a weak number could temper the hawkish sentiment.
