Dollar Rises in Cuba's Informal Market as Euro Falls
Cuba's informal currency market continued to fluctuate on August 27, with mixed results for major currencies. The U.S. dollar (USD) gained ground, reaching a value of 670 Cuban pesos (CUP), up from 669 CUP the previous day and representing a 7-peso increase over the past week.
The euro (EUR), on the other hand, experienced a decline, dropping to 756 CUP from 758 CUP. Despite this decrease, the euro remains stronger than the dollar by 86 pesos and has gained 6 CUP over the past week, having traded at 750 CUP just seven days earlier.
The Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) showed a notable uptick, reaching an average value of approximately 469 CUP compared to 458 CUP the previous day. However, due to limited trading volume and potential future adjustments, this increase should be viewed cautiously.
