Dollar Rises on Strong US Jobs Data
The US dollar experienced a significant boost on Friday after data revealed that employers added 162,000 jobs in August, surpassing economists' expectations of 56,000 additions. This follows an unexpected decline of 23,000 jobs in July. The unemployment rate remained steady at 4.1%.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against a basket of currencies including the yen and the euro, rose by 0.37% to 99.33 on Friday. The euro depreciated by 0.28% to $1.1592, while the Japanese yen weakened by 0.41% to 156.45 per dollar.
