Dollar Slips as Soft Data Reduces Rate Hike Bets
Asian stocks rose on Monday, led by Chinese shares ahead of key economic data.
The US dollar slipped to two-month lows after soft retail sales and consumer sentiment weighed on bets for a Federal Reserve rate hike next month.
MSCI's Asia-Pacific index outside Japan gained 0.50 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei edged up 0.30 per cent.
Chinese blue-chips rose 0.80 per cent and the Hang Seng index gained 1.60 per cent ahead of China's activity data for July.
