Dollar Slips to Two-Month Low Ahead of US Inflation Data
The US dollar has hovered near a two-month low against major currencies as investors await this week's inflation data for clues on the Federal Reserve's interest-rate path.
This comes after a weak jobs report reduced expectations for a September rate hike, with the dollar index at 99.6, close to its lowest level since June 2.
The euro edged up to USD 1.1558, near its strongest level since mid-June, while sterling was steady at USD 1.3490, close to a five-week high.
US employment data released on Friday showed the economy unexpectedly shedding jobs in July, with revised payroll gains for the previous two months sharply lower.
