Dollar Slumps Against Yen After Official Market Intervention
The US dollar's value dropped sharply against the Japanese yen on Monday after officials announced their intervention in markets. The dollar was trading above 163 yen, reaching a 40-year high before regulators stepped in.
Ahead of last week, the dollar had been steadily rising against the yen, but its value plummeted after US President Donald Trump and Japan's finance minister confirmed that both countries had intervened in markets.
Following the official announcement, the dollar dropped approximately 1% to 156.34 yen, a significant change in exchange rates.
