The dollar surged on Tuesday as investors braced for crucial interest rate decisions from major central banks. The US Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan are set to announce their rate choices this week, with markets speculating about the impact on global economies.

Oil prices climbed above $100 per barrel, fueling concerns about supply disruptions. Brent crude futures rose by two percent to $106.7 per barrel following fresh attacks in the region and the closure of a major Saudi oil pipeline.

The US dollar index increased 0.23 percent to 99.34 points, while the euro fell 0.28 percent to $1.1565. The yen lost ground against the dollar, dropping by 0.3 percent to 154.03 after gaining about four percent since the start of September.
