Dollar Stabilizes Against Dong Amid Global Market Reassessments
The US dollar experienced slight gains against the Vietnamese dong on Tuesday morning, but its performance against major peers remained at multi-month lows. The exchange rate for the greenback was observed to be VND26,410 at Vietcombank, a 0.04% increase from previous levels.
However, on the black market, the dollar saw a decline of 0.58% to VND25,800. Globally, the US dollar remained near multi-month lows against most major currencies due to traders reassessing expectations of near-term monetary tightening.
Nohshad Shah, head of EMEA fixed income sales at Citadel Securities, commented on the inflation situation, stating that 'inflation has been above target for most of the past five years, and whilst a high 2% annual pace may prove acceptable to the Fed, it leaves the inflation process with little to no breathing room in a world of constant supply shocks.'
The euro was observed to be trading at $1.1581 in early Asian hours, nearing its two-month high of $1.1614 touched on Monday.
