Dollar Stable, Euro Falls in Cuba's Informal Market
The Cuban peso remains stable against the U.S. dollar in the informal market, while the euro has lost ground for the second consecutive day.
According to CiberCuba's Exchange Rate Index, which tracks the informal market, the dollar closed at 663 Cuban pesos (CUP) on Tuesday, August 18, with no change from the previous day. This represents a 0.4% decline over the past week and a similar variation over 30 days.
The demand for dollars remains high among those looking to protect their savings against the depreciation of the peso, which has been affected by sustained inflation and low state wages.
