Dollar Steady, Euro Falls in Cuba's Informal Market
In Cuba's informal currency market, the US dollar remained stable at 673 Cuban pesos (CUP) as of August 7, 2026. This marks no change from the previous day and a week ago.
The euro, however, declined by two pesos to 783 CUP compared to its value a day earlier and last week. Over the past month, the euro has gained 25.5 pesos from 758 CUP, an increase of 3.4%, but this comparison may include methodological adjustments.
The official exchange rate from the Central Bank of Cuba (Segment III) remains significantly lower at 618 CUP per dollar and 713 CUP per euro, substantially below the values observed in the informal currency market. The gap between the official and informal rates reaches 55 pesos for the dollar and 70 pesos for the euro.
