Dollar Strengthens Against CHF as Warsh Speech Looms
The US dollar has been on a strong run lately, breaking through a shooting star pattern against the Swiss franc. According to Christopher Lewis, a technical analyst at DailyForex, this is largely due to the significant interest rate differential in favor of the US dollar.
This week, the USD/CHF pair rallied during the trading session on Wednesday, and now finds itself at the 50-day EMA level. This marks a critical point for the currency pair, as it will be interesting to see whether the upward trend continues.
Lewis points out that there are several factors at play here, including the upcoming speech by Kevin Warsh, chairman of the Federal Reserve, at Jackson Hole on Friday. A hawkish tone from Warsh could lead to a decline in the Swiss franc, while a dovish tone could shift market sentiment.
In the long term, Lewis remains bullish on the USD/CHF pair, citing its bounce from the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level as a positive sign. This has led him to believe that traders may continue to view short-term dips as buying opportunities.
