Dollar Strengthens Ahead of Jackson Hole Amid Inflation Concerns
The euro has reached its lowest point in almost a week against the dollar as investors await the upcoming Jackson Hole Symposium. The US dollar has strengthened ahead of the event, driven by recent data indicating sticky inflation and increasing expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike.
According to the latest statistics, the US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index remained unchanged at 3.7% on an annual basis in July, surpassing the consensus forecast of 3.6%. On a monthly basis, both the PCE Price Index and its core counterpart rose by 0.2% in July.
In contrast, data from Germany showed that the GfK Consumer Climate Indicator improved to -26.6 heading into September, marking its least pessimistic reading since March. Meanwhile, the EUR/USD exchange rate is currently trading at $1.1661, showing minimal change for the day on the NSE.
