Dollar Strengthens Ahead of Warsh's Jackson Hole Address
The US dollar maintained its position near its weekly peak on Friday in anticipation of Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh's address at Jackson Hole. Trading activity remained subdued ahead of the scheduled 1400 GMT speech.
Market participants expect at least one 25 basis point rate increase this year due to stubborn inflation pressures, providing underlying support for the dollar.
Bernard Baur, an analyst at Commerzbank, suggested that a potential shift in the Fed's focus on alternative inflation metrics beyond the traditional PCE deflator could be interpreted as dovish positioning and exert downward pressure on the dollar.
