Dollar Surges Against Dong on Black Market
The US dollar has strengthened against the Vietnamese dong on the black market, marking a slight increase in value.
According to unofficial exchange points, the greenback saw a 0.12% gain, selling at VND25,890 per dollar on Saturday morning.
This comes after the Vietcombank kept its rate unchanged at VND26,260.
The strong performance of the US dollar is attributed to the hints made by U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh that interest rate hikes may be needed if policymakers doubt inflation will reach the central bank's 2% target.
