The US dollar index (DXY00) has risen by +0.17% today due to favorable economic news from the United States. Weekly jobless claims came in lower than expected at 199,000, compared to forecasts of 205,000.

Additionally, Q2 nonfarm productivity increased more than anticipated at +1.4%, while unit labor costs rose less than predicted at +1.3%. These developments have strengthened the dollar's position and contributed to its gain in value.

The increase in WTI crude oil prices by +1% has also supported the dollar, as it raises inflation expectations and tightens monetary policies. Furthermore, a Financial Times report suggests that Fed Chair Warsh is willing to raise interest rates at the September FOMC meeting if inflation continues to run hot.

The euro (EUR/USD) has declined by -0.16% due to the stronger dollar and weaker-than-expected Eurozone June retail sales, which fell -0.3%. However, German June factory orders rose more than expected at +3.1%, limiting losses in the euro.
