Dollar Surges on Stronger-than-Expected US Jobs Report
The US dollar surged on Friday after data showed that employers added 162,000 jobs in August, well above the 56,000 additions expected by economists.
This significant upward surprise indicates resumed hiring strength and reinforces labor market resilience despite a July decline of 23,000 jobs. The unemployment rate held steady at 4.1%.
Currency markets reacted swiftly to the strong jobs report, with the dollar index rising 0.37% to around 99.33. The euro fell 0.28% to $1.1592 and the Japanese yen weakened 0.41% to 156.45 per dollar.
