Dollar Surpasses Ruble Transactions on Armenian Interbank Currency Market
In the Armenian interbank currency market, dollar transactions surpassed ruble transactions from August 31 to September 4. This is according to a report by Finport.am, which notes that while dollar transactions remained at the same volume as the previous week, ruble transactions experienced a significant decline of 47%. Despite this, the weekly volume of ruble transactions still dominated over dollar transactions, albeit with a narrowed gap from three times to 1.4 times.
On the intrabank foreign exchange market, the trend also shifted in favor of dollar buying and selling, while euro transactions saw a slight slowdown in sales growth. Meanwhile, ruble transactions experienced a subtle decline in buying activity accompanied by a reversal of the sales trend from growth to decline.
The dram's exchange rate continued to strengthen against both the euro and the ruble, with an annual revaluation of 5% and 13%, respectively, compared to September 4, 2025. The Central Bank of Armenia reported that dollar transactions were conducted four times, while ruble transactions occurred three times on the interbank currency market.
Intrabank foreign exchange market activity saw significant increases in dollar buying and selling trends, as well as euro purchasing growth accompanied by a slowdown in sales. Ruble transactions experienced a slowdown in the decline of buying activity and a reversal of the sales trend from growth to decline.
