Dollar Weakens Against Yen as Euro Fights Strong
The US dollar continued its downward trend against the Japanese yen in Tokyo trading, struggling to hold onto gains and eventually falling back into the lower 159-yen range.
On both the morning of the 28th and the previous day, the 27th, the dollar-yen pair had briefly touched the 159.41 yen mark before losing altitude and consolidating at lower levels.
The euro, on the other hand, demonstrated strength against both the yen and the dollar, trading around 185.65 yen against the yen and near $1.1653 against the dollar.
Market participants attribute the dollar's weakness to uncertainty surrounding US monetary policy and month-end commercial flows, which are suppressing upside momentum for the dollar-yen pair.
