This marks a decline of 0.69 percent from the previous session's close.
In related news, the euro rose to $1.1635 and the British pound advanced to $1.3539 in late New York trading.
The dollar also lost ground against other major currencies, including the Japanese yen, Swiss francs, Canadian dollars, and Swedish Kronor.
