Dollar Weakens to Fresh Lows Amid Easing Treasury Selling Pressure
The US dollar hovered near its lowest level in several months against major currencies on Wednesday (19/8), as investors awaited the latest minutes from the Federal Reserve (Fed).
The euro rose 0.1% to USD 1.1585 and remained near the two-month high reached earlier this week, while sterling edged up to USD 1.3538, approaching a three-month high ahead of the release of UK inflation data.
The US dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major currencies, fell 0.1% to 99.55.
Selling pressure in the US Treasury market began to ease after a sell-off that had pushed yields to multi-year highs, with the 10-year US Treasury yield falling to 4.686%, while the 30-year bond yield declined to 5.268%.
