Dollar-Yen Firm Amid Treasury Buyback Funding Reports
The dollar-yen pair traded firmly in the lower 159 range on the Tokyo foreign exchange market, after reports emerged about funding sources for U.S. Treasury buybacks eased pressure on the dollar.
The pair climbed from 159.05 to 159.39, with cross-yen pairs also strengthening in tandem with the dollar-yen rate.
Despite lingering uncertainty over the Middle East situation and U.S. inflation concerns, the dollar-yen has not shown significant downward momentum.
In related news, the Reserve Bank of Australia released minutes from its August 10-11 board meeting, indicating that GDP growth is expected to slow through 2026 before gradually recovering in 2027 and 2028.
