Dollar-Yen Steadies Ahead of Key Announcements
The dollar-yen exchange rate stabilized around mid-153 yen in Tokyo foreign exchange trading on October 10th.
The pair initially showed resilience, standing at 153.71 yen per dollar as of 10:00 a.m., roughly 15 sen stronger than the New York close of 153.56 yen.
Dollar buying and yen selling ahead of the fixing rate announcement supported a rebound to 153.72 yen, offsetting earlier yen buying that pushed the pair back to 153.31 yen.
The dollar-yen pair continued to trade in a narrow range throughout the morning, with some market participants expecting Bank of Japan board member Kazuyuki Masu's speech at 10:30 a.m. to have a limited impact on the market unless he makes hawkish remarks about rate hikes.
