Dollar-Yen Stuck in Limbo Ahead of Fed Chair's Jackson Hole Speech
The dollar-yen pair is expected to remain indecisive on August 26 as traders wait for Federal Reserve Chair Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole, Kansas on August 28. The pair had a mixed session on August 25, rising to 159.31 yen before falling to 159.09 yen and closing at 159.14 yen.
The previous day's trading was influenced by the decline in crude oil prices after U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent's comments on Iran sanctions measures, as well as disappointing economic data from the U.S., including below-market expectations for August Consumer Confidence Index and July New Home Sales.
However, Boston Fed President Collins' statement that 'prompt tightening would be appropriate' if inflation deceleration is not confirmed helped to stabilize the decline.
