Dollar-Yen Trades Softly in Tokyo, Euro Shows Firmness
The Tokyo foreign exchange market saw a soft tone in dollar-yen trading on the morning of the 27th, lacking clear direction. The pair initially fell to 163.55 yen but briefly rebounded to 163.71 yen before returning to 163.52 yen by mid-morning.
Meanwhile, the euro exhibited firm price action against both the yen and the dollar. Euro-yen rose from 186.31 yen to 186.64 yen and is currently trading near the upper end of that range at around 186.58 yen.
The euro's strength is attributed to speculation regarding the European Central Bank's (ECB) monetary policy stance and buying interest following regional economic indicators.
