Dollar's Brief Rally Fades Amid Unchanged Rate-Cut Bets
The US dollar's brief boost from the prospect of Kevin Warsh becoming the next Federal Reserve chair has faded, according to ING analysts.
Warsh's emergence as a leading candidate for the position initially provided a lift to the greenback, with investors speculating that a Warsh-led Fed would be less inclined to cut rates aggressively. However, this momentum proved short-lived, and by the end of the trading session, the dollar had given back most of its gains.
ING attributes this reversal to the fact that market pricing for interest-rate cuts remains unchanged. Investors are not convinced that Warsh's potential appointment would dramatically alter the Fed's near-term policy path, despite his hawkish reputation.
