Dow Jumps on Warsh Speech Anticipation, Tech Stocks Retreat
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 80 points on Friday as investors awaited Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the central bank's annual Jackson Hole symposium.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite were relatively unchanged, with the former up 0.09% and the latter down 0.01%. The technology sector was weaker, following a strong advance on Thursday after Nvidia's latest earnings report.
Gap shares jumped ~18.8% after the retailer appointed Michael Francis as CEO of Old Navy and raised its annual profit forecast.
