Dutch Central Bank Moves Gold Reserves Amid Global Uncertainty
The Dutch central bank has transferred 86 metric tons of gold from its vaults in Ottawa and New York to London, citing 'crisis preparedness' due to global political instability.
This move is part of a broader trend among central banks to reposition their gold reserves for potential crises. France made a similar move earlier this year, shifting gold held in the U.S. back to Paris.
The Bank of Canada has not held an ounce of monetary gold since 2016, making it the only country among the Group of Seven (G7) without any gold reserves.
