ECB Confronts Euro Area Growth Slowdown Amid Rising Inflation
The European Central Bank (ECB) is facing another growth slowdown in the Euro area as inflation rises. According to provisional PMI survey data for May, the eurozone's private sector business activity has declined further, with sharper falls in output, new orders, and employment recorded.
Business confidence also slipped lower in May, which could lead policymakers at the ECB to consider an interest-rate cut from the present rate of 2%. This would be a significant move, especially given the current economic conditions in the Euro area.
