ECB Eurosystem Net Position in Foreign Currency Decreases to EUR 348.4 Billion
The European Central Bank (ECB) has released its latest consolidated financial statement for the Eurosystem as of August 14, 2026. According to the report, the net position in foreign currency decreased by EUR 0.5 billion to EUR 348.4 billion in the week ending August 14, 2026.
The net balance of open market operations and standing facilities fell by EUR 22.4 billion to -EUR 1,973.6 billion due to a change in the level of the deposit facility. Base money increased by EUR 7.9 billion to EUR 3,973.7 billion.
The ECB's securities portfolios for monetary policy purposes showed some changes, with the reported value as of August 14, 2026 being: Securities Markets Programme - EUR 0.0 billion; Covered Bond Purchase Program 3 - EUR 190.9 billion; Asset-Backed Securities Purchase Program - EUR 2.0 billion; Public Sector Purchase Program - EUR 1,678.8 billion; Corporate Sector Purchase Program - EUR 218.0 billion; and Pandemic Emergency Purchase Program - EUR 1,291.5 billion.
