ECB Hikes Interest Rates Again Amid Ongoing Inflation Pressures

The European Central Bank (ECB) raised its key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to 2.50% on Thursday, as expected.

This marks the second rate hike in 2026, following a similar increase in June, and is aimed at combating inflationary pressures.

The ECB warned that 'the conflict in the Middle East continues to generate inflation pressures,' and that inflation is set to remain above target for an extended period.
