ECB Holds Rates, Oil Prices Soar Above $100
The European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to keep its benchmark interest rate at 2.25%, as expected, citing high uncertainty in the economy. This decision was unanimous, but ECB President Christine Lagarde mentioned that some governors wondered whether a hike should be considered.
Meanwhile, oil prices have surpassed $100 a barrel for the first time since May, following hostilities in the Middle East. The global benchmark Brent crude broke through this threshold after attacks in the Red Sea.
