ECB Invites Public Input on New Euro Banknote Designs

The European Central Bank (ECB) has unveiled ten possible designs for the next generation of euro banknotes and is now inviting public input through a voting process. The shortlist features two main themes: birds and people who represent Europe's cultural identity. Among the suggested figures is opera legend Maria Callas, highlighting the importance placed on shared cultural identity in the design process.

The public voting period will remain open until September, with the ECB set to make its final pick by the end of 2026. The new notes won't be released until several years later, giving voters a chance to shape what Europeans will carry in their wallets for years to come.
