ECB Minutes to Set Pound-Euro Course as UK Data Fails to Impress
The Pound to Euro exchange rate has been trending lower due to UK economic data failing to boost confidence in investors, according to Exchange Rates UK. The GBP/EUR exchange rate is currently trading at around €1.1665, down roughly 0.2% from last week's start.
While the Pound (GBP) faced volatility last week with mixed results from various UK economic releases, including employment figures and inflation data, it ultimately failed to gain significant support. The Euro (EUR), on the other hand, has been influenced by its inverse trade relationship with the US Dollar (USD), resulting in a modest increase.
The upcoming publication of the European Central Bank's (ECB) July policy meeting minutes will likely play a crucial role in determining the Pound to Euro exchange rate. If the minutes suggest that ECB policymakers are open to tightening monetary policy, it could lead to increased bets for a September rate hike and boost the single currency.
