ECB Net Position Rises Amid Base Money Increase
The European Central Bank (ECB) released its weekly financial statement for the week ending August 7, 2026. The net position of the Eurosystem in foreign currency increased by EUR 0.8 billion to EUR 348.9 billion.
This was largely due to an increase in base money, which rose by EUR 5.2 billion to EUR 3,965.7 billion.
The ECB also reported a decrease in the net balance of open market operations and standing facilities, down EUR 20.6 billion to -EUR 1,951.2 billion.
