ECB Set to Hike Rates to 2.5% in September
The European Central Bank (ECB) is poised to raise its deposit rate by 25 basis points to 2.5% at its September meeting, according to a Reuters poll of economists.
This move would mark another step in the ECB's efforts to curb inflation while balancing risks to economic growth.
A majority of economists polled anticipate a quarter-point hike, bringing the deposit facility rate to its highest level since 2001.
Most respondents see this as the last rate hike in the current cycle, with a terminal rate of 2.5% expected by year-end.
