The European Central Bank (ECB) has maintained its interest rates unchanged in an effort to navigate the uncertainty caused by the ongoing war. The ECB Council meeting in Frankfurt decided to keep the overnight deposit rate at 2.25%, the main refinancing operations rate at 2.4%, and the overnight lending rate at 2.65%. These rates have been in effect since June 17 of this year.

The deposit facility rate, which determines the direction of the ECB's monetary policy, remains unchanged as well. In a statement following the meeting, the Council noted that despite high volatility, the forecast for energy prices currently aligns with the baseline June scenario from Eurosystem specialists and remains significantly above pre-conflict levels.

The Council emphasized that uncertainty remains high, and the full impact of the energy price shock on inflation has yet to materialize. As a result, they will continue to closely monitor the situation and determine the appropriate monetary policy stance based on incoming data.
