ECB Unveils Finalist Designs for New Euro Notes
The European Central Bank (ECB) has unveiled ten finalist designs for new euro notes, featuring two themes: 'European Culture' and 'rivers and birds'. The public can participate online until September 21st to choose their preferred design.
The President of the ECB, Christine Lagarde, emphasized that euro notes are more than just payment instruments, as they represent tangible symbols of European identity. She believes the new designs should provide a common identity among European citizens.
The selection process involved a competition open to digital artists from around the EU, attracting 1,200 applications. The ECB's Government Council will choose the winning design by the end of the year, taking into account public suggestions and jury recommendations.
