The European Central Bank (ECB) has unveiled ten new euro note designs for public feedback. The designs, which will replace the current notes introduced in 2002, feature two main motifs: 'European culture' and 'rivers and birds.'

Over 1,200 artists from across the EU submitted their work, with independent judges narrowing it down to ten sets of six notes each, ranging from €5 to €200. The new designs showcase European figures, architecture, and native wildlife.

According to ECB Executive Board member Piero Cipollone, 'the redesign of the euro banknotes is part of a long-term effort by the Eurosystem to ensure that cash remains a secure, efficient and relatable means of payment.'

The new notes will incorporate improved security features, including enhanced durability and more sustainable materials. The ECB aims to reduce the environmental footprint of banknotes through these changes.
