ECB's Digital Euro App to Exceed Accessibility Act Requirements
The European Central Bank (ECB) has announced that its digital euro app will include accessibility features to address barriers faced by users with different needs.
The design of the app is set to exceed the requirements of the European Accessibility Act, which aims to ensure that products and services are accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities.
The ECB has stated that the digital euro app will include features such as screen-reader support, keyboard navigation, simplified language, and reduced-motion settings.
Usability and accessibility testing for the app is set to begin during the digital euro pilot in 2027.
